The year was 2016, and I was in a room talking to Marketo and listening to their roadmap. I was working for a company called Fivestars leading the Growth Marketing team and had inherited the marketing stack including Pardot, a marketing automation tool from Salesforce.
It had been 4 months since I had joined, and my initial excitement at using a new marketing automation tool quickly faded. Our team needed to grow and collaboration proved to be hard in Pardot. On top of that, we experienced product limitations that hurt our ability to hit a variety of goals.
I needed to figure out what to do next.
This is probably a familiar story for many of you. Evaluating, buying, using and replacing software are now every day tasks that can yield enormous benefits or be tremendous failures.
